Went to pick up some dimes today (which all where all skunks) and I asked the teller "do have anything a collector might like?" And she said yeah I have these 3 things and she shows me 3 50$ star notes. One 2006 and 2 2009 notes.

The box of halves and the cents are just to hold the bill down by the way. Haha

So does anyone know if these are worth anything more than 50$ or even if there worth keeping?

I know this is the CRH forum but I only ever post here and I found it while CRHing!

I don't see the star..

Hmm maybe thats not even what they are, I just know what the teller told me. I know absolutely nothing about paper currency so feel free to fill me in if I'm mistaken.

There would be a star immediately after the serial number instead of a letter.

Aah I see, I must have been misinformed. :P oh well at least its still worth what I paid for it. Haha

That's the best part of all this. If you don't find anything at least it's still worth face value! :icon_thumleft:

Teller was probably referring to the blue security star. Every new $50 has that. Trade those $50s for some coin and stack that silver. Good luck!

Here's you a reference pic for star notes.

I keep any of them I find, unless I can get a buyer for them (I've only found newer ones that are heavily circulated).

This sweet one that I posted for you is one I picked up on eBay for $7.50 (some of the guys over on the Paper Currencies subforum gave me an estimate book value of $20-25 on it!)

I would have laughed at the teller if she would have tried a trick like this on me.

I give you the 50's if you explain how this was a trick, she gave me 3 50$ bills for 50$ each. No trick involved. Lol

tricks on her, she thought she had something special.....but it turned out to be a run-of-the-mill $50 bill.

Lets you know that your teller is at least trying to help......or is she..... =O

Those silly tellers are always passing the buck, reminds me of the time a teller tried to sell me some 1964 silver nickels.

Just goes to show that anything that won't fit in their drawer nicely, they are going to try to get rid of as "special". LOL

Could you imagine if one of those "I have gold dollars" offers that you routinely pass up (or at least I do) was actually a stack of gold dollars?

Just thinking about that makes me want to buy them! Haha

She wanted to get rid of them $50 bills are bad luck. At least if you follow Racing....

There's a corresponding Paper Currency forum here that you may wish to bookmark for future reference:
