Odd ground finds

Found these in an old dump area in the woods behind what used to be an old house. Too many large iron items, old pipes, and assorted debris to figure out what was a clean signal. I was curious about these ornate iron items I found. There were two of these things as well as a huge iron loop

Wagon wheel hubs would be my guess.

Deftone's guess is correct... it is a wagon wheel hub. The rectangular openings held the base of the thick wooden spokes.

The huge iron loop you found is very probably the "tyre" from the rim of the wagon wheel the hub was par of. You found the innermost and outermost metal parts of the wooden wheel.

I use to have one made out of wood. It was made into a hanging light on a chain! Wish I kept it!
