Found this utensil handle at a colonial house site. It measures 4 inches in length.

Has anyone seen a pattern of markings like this....?????? Same identical pattern is on the other side.

Thanks......Dan

Dan .. I took the liberty to post a portion of the larger photo you sent me.
That is very interesting!
Nice Find!

Maybe it's not a utensil handle (spoon/fork?). If it is identical on both sides, as I understood you to say, that is odd.

Have you tried electrolysis to see if it clears up on the pattern? Interesting.

Is it brass? I would like to see it after its cleaned up. It has that Victorian Eastlake look to it or Egyptian Revival maybe..
If we could see a pic in its entirety of where it broke off may help. A knife would have the same image both sides.

I have a tablespoon that I found with the same design. The makers mark is Sheffield plate co. I know there are websites for silverware that you can look up the design and they have the dates for them.

Did you post it here? I know I've seen this pattern before. I believe it was on this forum some time over the last couple of years.

I can't get it any cleaner than this. It's definitely brass, I see no makers mark on it at all. These two pic's are opposite sides which appear to have the exact markings. You can see where it is broken off on the one end.

Thanks guy's......Dan
