Found this weird silver at a 1900's era house site. Just a hair wider than a dime, and thin like a well worn morgan. Any ideas? The design seems to be a horse at the bottom with a pheasant in the sky at top maybe. Back of it is smooth and worn. Thanks for any ideas. odd silver.webp

There is no design there. What you have is a dime that has been crushed by a wagon or horse-drawn carriage in a gravel driveway or similar. Is the edge reeded?

Nope, no reeding. And as for having a design the pic may not be the best, but people I have showed it to seen the same design I have. I originally thought of a dime that might have been sanded down and maybe stamped into it. I may be wrong of course so thanks for the idea. Btw, love all your finds. Hope to be able to make your quality of finds someday.

Good to hear from you. I have hunted WV before and there are some great relics and coins to be dug there.

I have dug a couple coins that were run over in driveways before, and that is the type of pattern you get. Easy to see something, like seeing a picture in the clouds, but not really anything put there by someone intentionally. A well worn coin or pendant that was meant for engraving would have the same effect if lost in a driveway or rocky area.

Regards,

Buck

I think I have to agree.....just a hammered dime or pendant.
