Re: OFFICIAL LA BAYOU HUNT - SITE PICS ADDED 2/26/08!!!

Oh, sorry. oops. But if you think about it, NC is only a foot or so away from SC. In some places, only an inch, maybe less. :D

I filled up my Toyota Camry today and it wasn't even on "E" yet. $49.37. When I bought it I could do that for $19.00. :P

THREE DOLLARS AND NINE CENTS! (yes, I'm shouting, I'm sorry. I'm MORE sorry about the $3.09 for a lousy gallon of gas!) Gawd, I hope it comes down before the hunt!

I'm so glad we filled up before that increase hit.

back to the regularly scheduled programming...

Re: OFFICIAL LA BAYOU HUNT - SITE PICS ADDED 2/26/08!!!

Well, the gas is up here. Last I saw was $3.15. :sad11: Doubt that it's going down before summer though.
Glad that the trip is downhill at least one way. LOL
BTW, Noodle...Evy's working on filling the box and I'm filling out the check. :icon_thumright:

Re: OFFICIAL LA BAYOU HUNT - SITE PICS ADDED 2/26/08!!!

The POLE!! He's got a POLE in there! Boy, I bet that thing's gonna be stiiiickyyyy... :offtheair:

Ah, Dan's doing good. Had so much company today I couldn't carry on a decent conversation with him on the phone. I was at work trying to get caught up so I can devote myself to the patient for the next couple of days. He played his fiddle. Got poked many times to make sure his blood is ready for the heart cath; evidently it is. They're saying noon for a go-ahead.

He can't eat after midnight, so he's gonna be starved by 6 pm tomorrow. :P I picked him some RIPE tomatoes from the greenhouse to take in for him when he's given the go-ahead to eat again. We'll be walking the floors by 7:00 or so, if all goes well with the cath and they schedule whatever they're going to be doing for Friday or later. We won't know anything until probably mid-afternoon tomorrow. I'll find a computer around there someplace (we both used to work there) and get a message or two out. I'll put it here on this thread. Am not going to take my laptop in tomorrow. Too many different locations to be at.

Back to the chickens and the bunnies. That is downright naughty. ::) And I love it! :love5: Thanks for the cheer-up!!! I gotta go wash some clothes; my house is a wreck. I washed over 100 eggs last night! :tongue3: One thing for sure: If you eat breakfast here at the hunt headquarters, you WILL be eating very fresh eggs! :icon_cyclops_ani:

Jerrync,

As they say on t.v.

COME ON DOWN !!!!! A couple of days down here among this group and you should have your Louisiana Fix !!

Noodle,

You hang tough girl !!! Lotsa prayers going your way for both ya. Get all the rest you can get, you know sitting at the hospital with sick family is the hardest job in the world. I'd rather take a serious beating than hang at a hospital but you do what you have to do! :tard: Hopefully this will be smooth sailing for both of you. Hope so!!! ::)

Keep us informed when you can!

Steve :D

Re: OFFICIAL LA BAYOU HUNT - SITE PICS ADDED 2/26/08!!!

I know, Juan. My least-favorite place to be is at a hospital sitting. Found myself a good book. Gonna try to get into it. "The First Frontier" by R. V. Coleman. "How this country began..." Anybody read it? Should I take it or not?

The cover says: Here is a history of the US like no other, why the settlers came, what sort of people they were, how they made their livings, and how they behaved. [This book] explores how our country came to be -- by bringing to life the men and women who had lived and died, worked and loitered, sacrificed and sinned, and succeeded and failed.
Coleman's story of town and country questions a broad range of topics, including why the people of the Chaco Canyon (what is now New Mexico) vanished, and only their houses, pottery, axes and a few mummified bodies remained; how, between the beginning of the settlement of the Pilgrims at Plymouth to the end of March, half the colonists had died of an epidemic of influenza, and how life existed in Puritan colonies. (goes on....)

Anybody read anything of his?

Noodle,

I think that sounds like a great hospital book. I haven't read that one but I have done a lot of reading on the Chaco canyon. Really cool stuff. I'll have to send you some book titles that you might want to read about the New Mexico indians. The book sounds great and touches on some subjects that sound really interesting. Why don't you read it and give us a book review on it. Sounds like something I would like too.

Re: OFFICIAL LA BAYOU HUNT - SITE PICS ADDED 2/26/08!!!

And they are so PURDY!!! Dan kept trying to take them off 2-3 days early and let them ripen on the table where he could watch them. I finally convinced him to leave some hanging on the vines and then try them. He was hooked! I pulled 4 off tonight that just fell off in my hand and are such a pretty deep red color.

EAT YOUR HEARTS OUT!!! :icon_pirat:

P.S. We should have MANY ready for the LBH salads!!! :icon_sunny:

Re: OFFICIAL LA BAYOU HUNT - SITE PICS ADDED 2/26/08!!!

Oh Boy! Real tomatoes not store bought! Sounds so good my mouth is watering!

The book sounds really intresting too! It sounds as though it may start out kinda slow then after a few pages it will get where you won't want to put it down! be sure to let us know!

Be praying for a speedy recovery, and you get some rest too!

Re: OFFICIAL LA BAYOU HUNT - SITE PICS ADDED 2/26/08!!!

I was just looking through the book, and it's filled with drawings, pictures and portraits. Seems to be based on factual, not just a novel. Hmmmmm. Plot thickens. I'll find out tomorrow.

Last load in the dryer. Gonna go :sleepy2: pretty soon. I'll keep you guys posted.

Now would somebody please start up some interesting posts so we can get back to the HUNT??!!! River Rat, we need some more history or something! Tensas, you, too!! Oh, by the way, Tensas, got a guy coming to the hunt ... Dennis somebody ... who knows Tensas area and lots of local spots. He's a local attorney who'd rather be digging. Doesn't want to "speak," but just sit around and "jaw" with some of the hunters about what all is available in the area. One of my relatives rounded him up from somewhere. :icon_pirat:

Never know what is going to show up. Found another site for the hunt, also, even older than one or two of the others! Don't go away! Never know what you'll miss!! 8) - Noodle
