OH SCOOP BUILDING GOD'S.. I need Help

ok all you scoop builders I need help here, I just got a great deal on a scoop from Bert here on TNET ( thanks Bert ) got to take the scoop out today an try it out in the river , I need to come up with some kinda handle closer to the basket to lift , trying to lift it by the just the pole was a work out an when the pole got wet its slick. I need ideas here guys what do you think?



I know the obvious is go have one welded on ......but one I can move around until I find the best spot for me would be better .

Tank ; Try wrapping the handle with Gaffers Tape. Convention people use it to tape electric cords to carpet. That should cure the slickness and when you remove it to weld there wont be a residue like with Duck tape . Ya could also try some of that textured spray paint in the 12 oz cans at lowes.

My weedeater came with a clamp on plastic handle. It can be placed anywhere on the handle. I don't know if it will be strong enough for you but you could at least get an idea where to put a permanent one.

The scoop I bought had grip tape on it.. Its the tape that they put down on stairs..I got some at Loews in the paint section..I also got some spray on grip..looks like black spray paint but goes on thicker. Sprayed the whole handle that didn't have the grip tape on it and worked great

I've seen em to SWR but be dang if I can find any of those posts lol .I'm gonna hit a bike shop an see what they say .

Great idea SWR !
Tank , I think it might be the bar end clamps that mountian bikers use that clamp on the end of the handle bars Extractor

I have been using heavy water scoops for over 3 years, this is by far the best handle I have ever seen or used.... Multiple positions including laying flat for travel, all nuts and bolts are stainless, you can lift well over a hundred pounds with no strain on handle, it is just unbelievable................They are now being sold in some Home Depots............
