As far as the generic term, it's an Archaic Side Notch Point and is in the Big Sandy/Hemphill/Osceola cluster of points which is a Early Archaic type of point.

Very nice find and great looking in situ pictures. Congrats and thanks for the pictures.

Great find man, that is one heck of a patina. There are a few types of archaic side notched points that look very similar so it's hard to make a call imo. My best guess would be Newton Falls because of the size and width. Big Sandy would be my second guess.

thats awesome, Id call that a sublet ferry/big sandy, the notches are lower on sublet ferrys to the bottom than big sandys
that is a killer find!!!
top 2 are sublet ferry
bottom 2 are big sandys
I think...

Sweet find man. I sure would've like to been there to see that one. :blob8:

That thing is sweet. :icon_thumright:

Really, really nice point!

Pickaway, Musky 44 and Creekastro, I'm not sure of the flint type. I'm still new at artifact hunting. I'm still trying to learn point types. I do know that Flint Ridge is about an hour north of where I found it. There was a big chunk of flint sitting kind of next to it that was the same colors thats not in the pictures. Thanks for lookin' and the kind words. :headbang:
