Think that's some type of hide scraper? :icon_scratch:

Re: Ohio's State Gem Stone

Here's a couple of Flint Ridge pieces that I have pictures of. The first two are of a killer Adena Point and the pictures don't do this point justice. It is a very colorful piece of Flint Ridge with red, blue, and purple colors all through it.

In the second picture the Side Notch point on the left is made from a jewel quality Flint Ridge. Very highly translucent.

Nice stuff guys. I like Flintridge. I have found only two or three pieces of it down here but, it definitely did make its way down here. Thanks for the look.

Re: Ohio's State Gem Stone

We are truely blessed to have such a great variety of flint here in Ohio , and Flint Ridge has always been my favorite. We find quite a bit of it up here in the North Central part of the state.

Re: Ohio's State Gem Stone

Here is a case full of personal finds of mine of Ohio's gemstone. I took it out in the sunlight to try and get the colors to pop out. Sorry for the shadows. I beleive that all the flint in this case came from the ridge , but I am no expert on flint types so please dont quote me on that. Hope you enjoy the photo's.

Re: Ohio's State Gem Stone

Pickaway,

Are those blades personal finds? Were they all together? Could they have been ceramonially broken? Very nice even if they are broken!! Could be part of a large cache.

Re: Ohio's State Gem Stone

This piece here may not look like it, but I'm sure it is Flint Ridge Nethers also. It was found on the river and is very highly river stained, but if you look closely at the picture you can see the lines in the flint that is indicative of Nethers variety Flint Ridge Flint.
