Detector(s) used
Bounty Hunter, ACE 250 with 9X12 coil
Ok I did some research and found a coouple new places to hunt, hit one of them tonite after dinner for a couple hours. My first hit was a solid penny and it was only half buried, thought ok this is going to be a good spot it was a 1951 wheatie, then the next one was a 1951 and then found an old rose bush way over grown and found the 1918! my oldest coin to date and then finished up with a 58 and 75, no silver yet! But I think it is there, I need some pointers on how to battle dead dry grass with the ACE 250, I do not have a sniper coil yet but had a lot of confusing signals, please help! I know there has to be silver there just need some expert help, thanks for looking and happy hunting!. P.S found a brass door knob half of a silver ring and some old shotgun shell butts

I am no expert. But I have to think that there has to be more there. I always carry targets with me to test with as I am hunting. Silver lead brass and copper. When I am not hotting I will test with my targets.Lol it makes me feel better anyways :icon_scratch:

Looks like you're doing pretty well. I've used the Ace250 for almost three years. Sounds to me like you're describing the false signals that come from striking the coil on an object during the swing. I've found that this happens even if the object isn't solid...tall grass, thin branches, pine cones, etc., will all make the detector sound off. You can turn down the sensitivity and it will prevent some of that. Or, just check every target and when you pick one up that repeats from 90 degrees...dig it. This is my preferred method...never minded a little falsing as long as I could tell that's what was going on.

cool thanks for the tips, and I do get a lot of false hits from the grass and hard weed trunks.
