OK I'm completely baffled......update day 2

I was looking on Google Earth today trying to find vacant house sites in my neighborhood, and I happened to notice a line of trees that followed the line of a street into the park right across from me. I haven't searched the park because I thought it had been nothing more than pasture until it was turned into one of those nature trail hiking path parks. I decided to check it out and see if the street had gone further than it does today, and found what looks to be an old home site right behind the row of trees I had noticed, so I decided to search and I started finding these tags scattered all over. I found 13 of them so far.

I searched the patent and got this link to the machine they came from:

http://www.google.com/patents?id=2p...234&source=gbs_selected_pages&cad=0_1#PPP1,M1

So now I'm left wondering why these were there, and what else the ground will give up. I'm headed back tomorrow and will post whatever I find.

Also any additional info on these things would be appreciated, I haven't been able to find any mention of Mining Service Inc. of Olympia Wash. yet, and would really like to know more about the company, maybe it will help me figure out what these things were doing in that field.

Re: OK I'm completely baffled......

Very interesting indeed Ken.
Can't wait to hear the story behind those.

Does Olympia allow detecting in the parks?

Dan

P.S. Dug 282 coins Thursday. Have to say I don't recommend it, I'm still in pain.

Re: OK I'm completely baffled......

Dan, detecting in the parks here is perfectly ok from all I have heard, the problem is that they have been torn up and graded and changed so much it's hard to find much of anything other than modern clad coins.

Re: OK I'm completely baffled......

That is soo cool! I wonder if that old homeplace is where he may have lived?

Nana :)

Re: OK I'm completely baffled......

I'm wondering if maybe the site was used by the company that made these, still no info on the company though

Really Cool...I think that's a honey pot waiting to be opened...Can't wait for update...HH

Re: OK I'm completely baffled......

Nice finds. I'm guessing it was probably near the factory where they were manufactured. Or could be from the print/embossing shop where they were made and these were overruns or got dumped for some other reason.

Re: OK I'm completely baffled......

nice tags, don't forget to rivet one to your detector, if anyone asks what that thing is you're swingin, show em the label. ;)

Re: OK I'm completely baffled......

Hahahaha! I hadn't thought of that. I just might have to do that!

Re: OK I'm completely baffled......

I have serial numbers 4, 10, 62, 102, 105, 114, 133, 136, 139, 143, 172, 193, and 198. I just wonder how many of these were made. I'm going to try the library tomorrow to see if I can find any record of the company.

Re: OK I'm completely baffled......

Went back today and found 2 more serial # 8 and 145.

Didn't find anything else though, just lots of trash. Its a bit strange that not one single coin has come up over there, I just really don't know what to think about this spot.
