Not far from me is an abandoned boys home that was first opened in the 30's. I think some buildings have been demolished, but the main school building is still there, as well as two dorms and a chapel. I'm headed out there in the morning for a test run and plan to start at the chapel, seem reasonable?

It's a big site, if anyone else in the area is interested in hitting it with me one of these days.

You are going to do well there....

Wish I was closer.

boys home --aka known as "delinquient school or orphenage " --- basically a place for (mean / highly disobeadent) or unwanted / abandoned / mistreated children

since these children were "wards of the state" in the 1930's (depression years) when poor down and out families often who could not feed their children turned them over to the states care rather than see them starve to death-- your "kiddie" finds might tend to be rather lean --these boys would have had few if any toys to "play with / lose" -- and of course no money to lose to speak of -- but there might be a few interesting items to be found --lost by the staff of the school.

many boys schools were basically glorified "work houses" where the boys were forced to labor each day and "learn a useful trade" * -- the schools made income off the boys "manufactoring" labors to help support themselves (often much more than they spent on the boys actual upkeep -- there are many tales of "cooked books" and crooked overseers)

BTW I was born and raised till 12 in Challmette .

The interesting thing about this one is that Louie Armstrong was sent there as a kid, so it's got a bit of history. I figure I'll try a few spots and see how it goes. I was thinking chapel because that might be where relatives would have interacted with the boys.

I found pretty much what I've found all over lately, ground baked solid and impossible to dig.....maybe after we get some rain......

Did have a good day at the beach though, and from my finds today I'm certain no ones detected out there in a good while.
