If ole man winter just HAS to come and spoil all our fun, then, I can
say that now, I'm ready.

I went out yesterday to get one more hunt in before the "fun" starts.
I picked on a clad factory so that I might end my season on a positive note.
Even picked up a nice silver ring!

I was very tired last night and figured to rest today. BUT....
The weatherman said that the temps were going to reach 60's !!
So, as tired as I was, I decided to try once more for something old.
Back to my soybean field.

I hunted for FIVE long hours! Trying to find just one more nice old
coin for the finish. I didn't find very much, (never do in farm fields).
But I did manage a couple flat buttons. Which are nothing to sneeze at
I just wanted a little something special. Ya know?

I believe it says "Rich Orange" :dontknow:

Then, I got this deep penny sort of hit. Around 72-76.
Best hit of the day! I was digging mostly 55-65 all day!
I call them "bullet hits" in a farm field.

But, this, was sweeter! I took my time digging.

When I opened the hole, the signal went straight to a 90!
See why?

I actually just sat there for a while. Not knowing which
silver I had, didn't really matter at this point. :)
I was just reliving what a wonderful season this one has
been for me. Living with it for a while, delaying, ya know? ;)

Some might say, "All THAT!?! For just a quarter!!!???"

But, it represents much more than that, it represents all the effort
that we ALL put into this hobby! I not only found a REALLY nice SLQ,
I found it HERE! Bound and determined to find a statement piece for
the end of my personal season AND prove that with enough perseverance,
anyone can!

So, ole man winter wants to play, I say, let him! I did what I set out to do.
But, he better watch out! If he doesn't completely lock me indoors, I will
STILL get out this month and dig some MORE! LOL

Stay at it folks! For as long as HE allows!

Thanks again for peeking!

I'd say you did Awesome!! And that baby has a date, a Big Congrats!!

Fantastic find!
Have you looked that up?....
That could be a hundred dollar coin....maybe more.
That's great.....congrats!

Yahoooo........Nice way to cap (not end) off your season!! Congratulations!!

Would really like to find one before the end of the year. Congrats.

Told my folks Sunday to die "in harness".

Glad that is your outlook. He is not safe....but He is Good.

GREAT 1918 D.

Congrats on the nice SLQ and other nice finds WTG

Great end to the season! The button and silver are a very nice touch! :occasion14:

Fishy and Blingie seem to have come to terms with the impending break in digging.

That really is a great find. However, with that beauty I'd say it is highly unlikely your last hunt of the year. You got your motor running on that one, heading out on the highway looking for adventure, and what ever comes your way :)

You're born to be wild!

Nice Looking Quarter !
Even if she does have her Top On :icon_thumright:
and a Good way to end The Season if it happens for you.

Beautiful looking SLQ! Great find and a great way to either wrap up or at least begin to wrap up a season.

I would dig to the earth's core for a silver quarter like that. Nice finds

Nice looking SLQ Whadi. Nice way to cross the finish line for the year.

Awesome scores Whadi, I believe in your heart you knew you were going to pull something great that day. "The Secret" works, it's the universal law of attraction. Hard to beat a day where you pull a dated SLQ. Congrats on that sweet silver. :occasion14:

The button is really nice, but that SLQ is awesome. Congrats on a really nice coin!

Congrats! Love your outlook and optimism and humility in your posts!

Here is a link to your SLQ, nice work WIF, I love those soybean fields, nice easy walking. They might not be full of clad quarters, but they are usually old as dirt! You just never know what random drop the farmers or migrant workers dropped over the years, it's out there, just have to get a coil over it.

Thanks Treb, I had been looking around. Not for sale of course, but, it is a REALLY nice example! Ain't it funny how we not only find a coin but so many of them are rare dates! Or conditions. Like this high/scarcer date and it's still there! Love it!

Ever look at what a person could buy with just a penny, in, say, 1800? :) Says a little something about how important that loss was to the person losing it.

Congratulations on a couple of sweet finds.
I'm really in awe of that 1918d SLQ.
You're running this season right up to the new year.
No frost or snow,, Whadi will be swinging the coil.
Congratulations

It really is kind of special, ya know? And....not just dated but a scarcer date to boot!
