just few are silver with 1965.

1964 and before dimes, quarters and halfs are 90% silver --after 64 there is no silver in dimes or quarters ( the silver color outsides are "nickle")--and halfs 65 to 70 were reduced to only 40% silver "clad" outsides . look at the sides see a brown line --thats the copper core.

Your confusing the poor man, Show me your reference to your claim??

Tank, your eyes will tell you when you dig a late silver US coin. I have yet to dig a 1960's clad coin that is not brown in color. Every single 1960's silver I have dug has come up shiny silver. ffd

There were some in 65.. I found this on coin facts.."Rare error coins have been found struck on the silver planchets of the 1964 and earlier type." If you find silver it will be unmistakable...

For the most part it is 1964 or earlier. They did start making silver proof sets again in 1992, so although it is highly unlikely, it is possible to find a silver quarter from '92 or newer.

rare indeed!

Ok guys, my apologies to those of you who said that there were a few error coins minted on a silver planchet, It is indeed true. However the mintage is unkn own but from what i can tell it is such a small number that have been recorded that you can count the lot with less than 10 fingers. Here is a pic of one such coin. Oh and apparently even rarrer is a 1964 coin struck on a clad planchet, Aparently know one looked to see as most people presumed that they were all silver. Learn something everyday.
