Keep finding old iron tools near the old farm house.
Basement walls are made from field stone so my guess these are chisels used to square off the stone.
My Brother thinks maybe used to split rails.
They were found side by side 8" down, very heavy and identical. one side flat and the nose is rounded. Ends look like they were hammered some
Oh the round disc is a from the top of an old wood stove- Finding belt buckles, another broken Cast Iron shovel blade and other items.

I would guess that the chisels are for splitting stone, not shaping...

have you found the quarry?

good old steel is sought after by most blacksmiths...

Because all the land is glacial drift there are plenty of rocks and all the fences rows are divided by piles of stones.

I have found many of those Chisels near barn foundations and open fields and seen sometime ago in this forum that they were driven in v shaped logs and used to plow fields.

those are chisels/spikes they are used for many things like rail road spikes to just huge nails, many uses for those u will find them almost every where u go cause they are very popular
