Found in Oklahoma on an old military site.

Just a quick guess. Probably off an old writing desk or some type of chest or box or trunk. . decoration.. Vintage 1800"s.

Looks like some kind of a clip. Hat Clip for military hat? Belt Clip or Belt Keeper?

13 stars and a bust of a younger George Washington
prior to being president...
The two tabs on back press fit into something to hold it in place.
I am wondering if the "curve" is by design or was it bent while lost in the ground, is it meant to be flat?
Appears to be machine stamped brass or is it plated steel, hard to tell from the picture?
Very thin metal, not strong and not much corrosion?

Maybe a product logo, off something?

some clues...still thinking.

I was doubting the Washington ID too...
I will be searching for Jefferson things now...as the Washington searching has been NG.
