1 of 4 and by far the smallest grafted tree at the site. The base is the same root stock for sure. Very interesting.
differnet angle on the compass rock, also showing turtle carving rock on sand colored rock " left top" that was under the flat table rock " top middle" also under my feet is a hollow area. One of hundreds or maybe thousands of hiding places here. Large triangle rock is pointing at this spot.
Personally, "lots of old rusted stuff all over" is a bad sign for me. That means that this hasn't been a deserted hidey hole kind of spot for quite a while. Doesn't mean something of value isn't there, but it does mean that if anything is there, it is probably below the oldest layer of rusted stuff you can find. If you can date any of the old metal, that should give you a clue as to what you are dealing with. Metal coffee can? Glass mayonnaise jar? Predates when they started using plastic. Heavy gauge sheet metal or cast pot metal for household items? Predates injected plastic molds. On the bright side, you can still find valuable items in old junk yards. Worst case scenario would be that people used the general area as a dump, and at some point used a bulldozer to push it all into a pile or pit and cover it over.
