Old air rifle

I have had many air rifles and pistols. When I had my paintball field operation I had 12 spyder air pistols and 6 Sheridan pm3 pistols that I had converted over to large co2 tanks and large capacity ball hoppers, Yes, they shot paintballs. I now have a single pump .177, or BB shooting rifle that puts them out at 1000fps. My first air rifle was a Daisy Red Rider. I hopped it up to shoot thru a can and they were steel then. You just unscrew the barrel, Remove the spring that keeps the BB from falling out and bend it down a little to put more resistance on the BB before it is released. I use to rebuild the guns. They all eventually have problems with there seals. Some are "O" rings made of "rubber" and the Sheridans have lead seals that you can only use once. I use to be able to light those strike it anywhere matches with the Daisy at about 18'. They are a lot of fun. I will have to check out that Benjamin Rogue .357 one. Frank

I watched three videos of night hunting for rats. Impressive! The nearly silent air rifle didn't spook rats in the pack as the shooter plinked away. Back in my youthful days my pals would join me at the town dump to shoot rats. We used 22LR, and even cheated with bird shot once in a while. The loud crack sound would spook rats, so we had to sit and wait for more to show up to get another shot. We could have had far more success with air rifles. However back then the only air rifles we knew of were just good old Daisy "BB" gun

The BBcaps were quieter! Or a plastic bottle, filled with cotton taped to the end of the barrel. Hay, I think I invented that one back in the 50's. Frank

I believe bb and cb caps are the same thing frankn,they both propelled the projectile with the primer,no propellent.

Red, The BBcap had primer only and a ball for bullet. The CB cap had a trace of powder and light, but regular shaped bullet, at least on the ones I disassembled, but that over 20 years ago. I remember BBcap, CBcap, short, long, long rifle, magnum, blanks, teargas caps, flare caps, bird shot LR. Fired them all. I still have one of the teargas caps and the pen that fires it. Frank

The cb caps that i use to buy had no powder charge to them,primer only.I use to take them apart too lol.

Red, Maybe another generation. Mine came in a kind of round mint can and the cases were copper color with a shiny gray bullet. It was in the 50's or 60's. Now I just pump out 100 LR's from my Calico and through on another magazine full. Frank

Most likely frankn.The ones I bought were CCI,they came in the regular plastic boxes that other CCI .22 ammo comes in.They made less noise than a pump up bb gun lol but,had no problem going through a half inch pine board.

I don't remember the brand, But I remember I got them from an ad in an old Stogers catalog. Yea, yours were much newer. Still can't understand why they would have 2 different names for the same makeup. Frank

Had the Benjamin pump as a kid. But really like that German RWS. One cock, one shot, 1000fps .Not an Anschutz but still a good quality marksman rifle. The lewis and Clark gun is legendary.

Hay, I checked out the Benjamin Rogue .357 air rifle. The velocity is adjustable to 800 FPS. I think that is the velocity of a .45 ACP. At that velocity you get 4 shots per charge, up to 20 shots at lower power. Here's the kicker, it cost about $1600. ..Frank

When my ship comes in I will get one, but with my luck, I will probably be in the desert.

Yep, me too. When I hit that cache this spring, one of my first orders will be that Rogue. I think it can probably handle .357 & .355 bullets. The light .355's would really increase volucity. I'm a velocity man, rather than muzzle energy man. I figure it could pierce 1/4" steel. Frank
