I found this in the middle of a field , where I have found some civil war artifacts. It's just about all rust , I don't know how old this thing is , but i looks very old.

Whereever you find an old site axe heads will be found.
Yours looks to a double bit. These were made about the same way for maybe 50 years or more.
At one old site I found nearly a dozen in one trash pit.
