Found this yesterday in the back yard . . . . Not quite sure if it is horse tackle or what . . . Any thoughts?

Nice find, how big is it?

It is about 1 1/2" wide at the middle

I originally thought child's stirrup, but now I'm thinking a buckle. Thanks for showing it.

Very unusual buckle, not seen one quite like it, so hard to date, but must be 18th C (best guess, as it looks 200+ years old)

It is not broken . . . I looked at the Spectacle buckles and they mostly seem double. This one seems to show signs of wear on the thin straight side. The back is flat. I will try to get a good pic of the back and post it as well.

Thanks for the input!!

This is a picture of the back side and one for scale . . .

nice, it is a small one

does your buckle look like No6 on this page...it's very similar and a very early buckle for your side.
