Amazing! Thank you so much for this great information. I don't think I can thank you enough. Soooooooooo Is it safe to say I found my first Civil War button?

Hmm. After reading more. I was looking at wrong button on the site. Mine does say
"Maryland button, state seal eagle over a coat of arms with a fisherman and farmer, officer staff, Horstmann Bros & Co Phil, (15mm)
Button depicts state seal of Maryland, a shield with a fisherman, farmer, and eagle. Backmark: HORSTMANN BROS. & CO. / (dot) PHIL. (dot) " dm small letters inner ring of dots, small size only, backmark is likely post war, (HorstmannB16, small). Three part officer staff button, coat size.
Ref: Albert MD11, not listed, TiceMD200, not listed. Manufactured after the Civil War."

I was hoping I has my first Civil War relic.

still a cool find be happy!

I am very happy! I found another almost like it. The button in the pic is 15mm. The second is 23mm but is missing the front, but made by the same company. Tomorrow maybe I will go back and try to find the front of the second button. I was getting more high tones out of the hole, but it was raining out, and hard for me to pin point the target.
