✅ SOLVED Old cup or bowl fragment?

Found this on my landlords property in northern PA. Looks like maybe a piece of an old cup or bowl to me. Has weird symbols on it. What do you all think? I'm not even sure what kind of metal it is. Read as a 17 on my Vanquish 340 and it was about 10" underground.

It's a fragment of a sleigh bell, also sometimes called petal bells. The letter is half of the maker's initials and in this case, based on the style, is one of Joseph Shipman's bells. Below is an intact example:

His foundry was in New Britain Connecticut and operated from 1801 presumably until his death in 1859.
