:hello:

This has been the slowest start ever to a year, my only second trip today.:sadsmiley: I went back to one of my faithful fields for a short three hour hunt, this is the field were I found the gold stirrup ring a while back and it produces hammered coins, hard to find but they are there. Walked on to the field and the very first signal...hammered, first silver of the year. You would be forgiven if you thought this was going to be a red letter hunt...wrong turned out to just about the opposite, still I'm off and running, not a great one to start, but a interesting one, and one I have not had before.

HenryV1 Durham ecclesiastical mint Bp, Lawrence Booth (1457-61) B by neck & on rev...

that is a very small one to find, great find on the hammered

Very fascinating :icon_thumleft:

Nice find, SS! Too bad, looks like it's been clipped quite a bit? Love it with the "B" on it! I'd take that find anyday!!

Thanks Dale  A lot of the Edward1V pennies are usually very clipped like this one, the moneyer's certainly got away with a lot during his reign.

Nice tiny one! Love them most that way, hard to come by and a great feeling to hold such a small piece of history in hand! :icon_thumleft:

Very nice ! clipped or not - most of us would be enjoying an extra beverage having found that (responsibly of course !)

I like your positive attitude "hard to find but they are there." I wish you Continued success at that site.

Yes a very old ancient area that has a moated manor site, and church that dates back to Saxon times, but the finds have always been quite difficult to get, but some have been worth it.

I have updated the ID as I was wrong with mine, the coin is infact a HenryV1, not Edward1V as I first thought. UKFD Comments...The leaf on the breast of the coin is not mentioned by North, although it is fairly clear on the present example. It is noted as being present on some York coins of this issue.
The reverse has two interlinked rings at centre. More desirable than the Edward1V Spinks book value puts the coin at £65-£225, I guess mine would be the lower end.

Nice going on the hammered, being clipped would it be in the value range of a half penny or still would it be a penny?

Awesome silver and finds! I see you found a heart for Valentines Day.

Awesome finds! I love the old hammered coins, would be cool to hunt for them some day.

Yes mate it would, the moneyer has reduced the coin to a half penny, by the clipping.
