It took me a while to finally get motivated to get out today. Went to a field i have permission for but havent hit it too much. Gridded out a section of the field and found some goodies.

Some weird tiny coins that feels like play money and has foreign writing on it

Thanks guys, i did some research and found out the tiny aluminum coin is 1 cent from sri lanka. It actually says 1 cent on the front. Dur.

Wow, that field sure has had a long and varied history.
Congrats on the 1797 LC, you'd think with that amount of activity, there just has to be silver there.

Finding any gold coin here in Canada would be an amazing find, it's almost as rare as finding a hen's tooth. :laughing7:
I always wish for silver, but if copper turns up I'm just as happy.

America used gold coins in its currency for an extended period of time in the 19thc, so you stand a much better chance of finding one on Long Island than I do here in Ontario. :thumbsup:
US gold coins were widely used for commercial transactions in America from 1795 up until about 1880, after 1880 found their main use on the international market.
