Hi all,
Got to hunt all day yesterday at two sites :D
First was a farm where the buildings were taken down in the 1940s,
(don't know when it was built) the owner has put up a cabin on the site,
and allows people to 'recreate' on his land, it appears to be a lovers lane.
One of the old foundations has a large stone structure in the center, taking up almost half the area, this is the second like this I've seen, anyone know the purpose?
Lots of iron, TTF all the way.
Found a small horseshoe unlike any I've seen :help:
Peru coin in a tobacco tin.
1916 Merc in nice shape.
suspender or sash adjuster with lots of gold.
A couple Rosettes & various door hardware,
BTW, found nothing in & around foundations, everything was scattered in the field and near the well :icon_scratch:
Pretty interesting site.
thanks for looking! HH
remains of an early car, love that big front wheelhousing

Nice hunt and finds! 1916 Mercury, does it have a D for the Denver mint mark? Might be worth some $$$ if it does. The small horse shoe could be a heal plate for a human shoe. The stone block may have been a support for webbed ceilings. HH, Mike

Great finds yesterday Herbie! :o

Congrats on finding the Merc! :notworthy:

The pictures of the old car parts were really interesting too! :o

Thanks All!
Mike, I'll pull that merc and check,
:tongue3: I forgot the pic of the horseshoe!
Here it is, too big for heelplate, about 4.5"
the second pic in OP is from the inside of the cellar, foundation on right, central structure on left, shows how little space it left.
Creskol, love those hubcaps, got a bunch, seems the bigger they are, the later the model..
Worldtalker,
The old farms are literally everywhere, the lowlands are the only spaces without stone walls running through
Thanks antiquarian! love that avatar pic :D

That shoe may be a small corrective bar shoe for a pony or burro, most commonly used to support the heel of the hoof.

Great site and finds H 8) looks like a 1932 Ford Vicky :headbang: hope the merc has a D mm :laughing7: dawg

I like the "Seated" ;D. What's the crusty coin pictured? Those heavy-iron spots are difficult to detect but sometimes produce some goodies. Maybe you can hit it better when the vegetation is gone, nice digs though!

That's why I like my M-6 DD10x6,sure can get in between that iron with the tones!!!!!

What a beautiful place to hunt Herbie and you made a haul (as usual). Very good pics. I wish we could show our sites but too many pochers down here. You have my vote for "Most Devoted & Productive Detectorist of 2011". Stay cool, Quindy.

Very nice digs will!

Congrats on some nice finds, love the pics, :icon_thumright: !

Nice relics Herbie. Congrats on the silver. :hello2:

Thanks for all your replies & info
Busy day yesterday, couldn't get a reply on til now..
I had no idea a 20th Century silver could have this kind of value :o
My head is full of error coin dates to watch for ::)
1916D Merc "Value: As a rough estimate of this coins value you can assume this coin in poor condition will be valued at somewhere around $1000, while one in "great" shape can bring $30000."
Well, this one has no mintmark.
I do have a 1918D that I may glue on the back :laughing9:
Consolation is that the 1/2 Sol is Silver, if you can call .500 silver :laughing7:
Wallhangers, that coin is a US quarter from another hunt, I used it as a size comparison because it was handy. (I knew what it was! :tongue3: )
Thanks creskol & Okie for the Shoe info :notworthy:
Quindy,
very few would recognize this site, it is not visible from the secondary dirt road that passes the property, there are so many sites in central NH, before 1940 or so, almost all of this area was farmland, judging by the foundations, stone walls, and age of the trees. HH to ya :hello:
Art & Worldtalker, Without using the TTF mode on my etrac, I probably wouldn't have dug anything here, Thanks!
Dawg, I do believe you're correct on the 32 Ford, you got skills :headbang:
Thanks for looking everyone! HH to You

Nice finds :icon_thumleft:

Cool site...The center stones where probably to support the floor beams..

I have come across this on really large cellars with a long span from wall to wall :icon_thumleft:

And being a carpenter it just makes sense :laughing7:
