I found this old silk flag in my grandmother's hope chest after she died . It was with a 46 star wich I found to be from 1908 - 1912 . I've been checking flag web sites all day with no luck ! I did find one similar one , '' the first confederate '' but it has only 7 stars in the blue feild
instead of thirteen , but the stripes were the same . I'm dying of curiosity ! Any info will be greatly appreciated .
Thanks ,
Mojjax

Hi Mojjax. That looks like a reproduction cause it's in such good condition. It might just be that it was well kept. Not 100% sure though. I would take it to a museum to find out what it's worth and how old it is.

Matt ,
I know it's from at least 1916 because they were folded up in a postmarked envelope with a christmas card refering to the flags as a gift . I don't think they've seen the light of day for a long time . There are some pin holes that an insect made but other than that they are mint !

Thanks for the link Buckram , very interesting ! That one they pictured only had 11 stars . Thats the closest so far though .

Best ,

If that is the real thing, that is a prize! Congratulations. Treasure hunting out in the open or treasure hunting in the attic, it is still treasure hunting and that is a veritable treasure. Good job. Keep us posted on your further research. Thank you for sharing that with us.

This page has a lot of information about antique american flags, which might help you to learn more about yours. It also has an address for a man who can help you assess the value of your flag. He charges 25 bucks, though.

I'm new to this forum, and this is my first post, so I hope I helped out a bit! :)
