Old house find

[sscindercoop]

I found this today at a house built in 1812 it was found by the front door and it was down deep. There is nothing on the back. It is 4 1/4 inches long by 2 1/8 inches high. Any help on Id age and cleaning would be great its made of copper. Thanks

I will wag on this one: Clock top?
Could also be from some silver plated item that was taken a part.

Looks like it was attached to something rounded. Is it more solid/thicker like if it was a handle to something, or is it flimsy like only for decoration.

It is kinda flimsy. At first sight I thought it was part of a tiara you know like something from a prom or a beauty pageant. Defiantly rounded like you said 72 cheyenne.

Any other Ideas?

Old age tierra?

flimsy makes me think there was a stiff banding or it fit behind something. at least the bottem edging where the holes are.

the two holes are not much to attach it in rounded fashion to hold it securely without some sort of band which the nails held..

how about the top of an old coach light ?
