There was an old ice house on land bought by the power company in our area. The foundation is still there I detected and found the old conveyor chain. Would there be anything worth continuing to look for at one of these. I don't know much about these so whether or not there would be any tools or relics of interest at one of these is beyond me. Its a late 1800's early 1900's ice house.

an old spot like that is well worth the time spent there there has got to be old coins lost in the area. good luck.

I hunted last april where there was an old ice house. I did pretty well. Came away with 6 silvers. 1 barber quarter 2 standing liberty quarters 1 barber dime and two mercs. Never hurts to try.

good luck

The interiors of these old ice houses were usually very deep, on the order of 30 feet or more and had sawdust to pack and store the ice in during the warmer months. Reason dictates interior of the foundation would not be near the working bottom where there may still be ice tongs/saws or other tools of the trade.

If there were a purchase office out front it might be a good bet for some coinage, depending on the fill at the site. The local icehouses that were here all have too much fill around them to be good prospects at this time, good luck!
