Old Hatchet.webp

I was at my grandmother's house, metal detecting in her front yard, and I found this. I am pretty sure it's iron.
It's about 9 3/4 inches long. I cleaned most of the rust off earlier today.
If you could give me some info on who you think made it or what kind of hatchet it is, I would appreciate it much.

Thanks Everyone!

Noah :headbang:

Being thin like it is, at first I thought a throwing hatchet but then I notice it has a nail puller. It might have been homemade cut out from some flat steel.

If you don't find a name on it, there is probably no way to tell the brand.

This one is an Estwing with a stacked leather handle.

I had that hatchet in the 1980s. Can't remember the brand it was totally flat however. Terrible tool had no weight to it at all it was supposed to be lightweight for camping. All parts of it were about a quarter inch thick I just saw it somewhere recently definitely a perfect match. Mine was Chrome plated check for signs of Chrome

sent from my computer by frantically poking at the keyboard with a single finger

Thanks everyone for your responses! For Relic Lover, no it is definitely not chrome plated. It could be an older version, but I am pretty sure it is iron. But I am thankful for your response, it helps a lot! :D

Thanks again everyone!

Vintage Iron Hatchet, Camp Axe.webp

I found this online, and although it's not exactly like mine, it does look very similar.

One piece makes it 20th century to present. 10" overall is pretty small for camp or wood splitting; and yours is VERY thin for a hatchet. Perhaps what you have was intended for back-packers or hunters?
