Old LARGE Buckle ID Help!

Found in yard of 1700's revolutionary war home on Hudson River in upstate New York. Anyone seen one this size and configuration

I have found a few buckles that appear similar to yours,usually close by I'll find a large iron ring and a few rivets.I decided the buckles must have been from horse equipment of some type.

i agree with Hasbeen its some type of horse tack or harness buckle

Makes sense .... I've also found this rosetta in the same area....

Had another look, I can see how the pin worked. Yeap its a buckle for horse tack.
