Story behind is my Father received my a friend of my Uncle's. That person this same dagger from a person who worked for a wealthy person living in Hollywood California. Not much detail beyond that, but in itself it is rather interesting. It looks like it could be a prop or used as a letter opener. Here it is.

Significant details.

The sheath of the dagger has an M in the middle of it. Along with it. Looking closely on the blade it self there is a strange marking I know nothing of, and this is where I'm hoping I can find a clue of it's origins. Thank you.

Thank you. I believe you found it's origin. I need to find out more with an antique dagger historian. Thank you once again.

Welcome to Tnet. I believe most of these are tourist or made for export type pieces. At least the ones i've come across here seem to be. I have a couple similar looking knives myself. They just don't look or feel like something I would want to use to defend myself with. Too thin, light weight and flimsy for me. Here is one of the ones I have. I can't get to the other one at the moment.

True jambiyas are double edged, as its the Arabic word for dagger.
