I owned a sign shop for many years. Back in the 60's we were silk screening signs like that with light sensitive film. I'm sure the system was around for some years before we were using it. Many screens were hand cut but the detail in and the aluminum of your sign tends to lend to the later style of light sensitive than hand cut silkscreen film. Also it appears to have very little to no corrosion. Most aluminum signs would have some corrosion where the screws or bolts were against the sign. I think it's called galvanic reaction. The lesser metal will corrode when in contact with a dissimilar metal. Also a sign out in the weather will get a coat of dulling residue all over the exposed area. Your sign looks in very good shape for an unprotected aluminum sign.
