ound this last night while detecting with a former Cub Scout that I am introducing to the wonderful hobby of metal detecting. He got the winner last night on his first detecting session. He came up with a fork that is engraved on the end "MYH". I naturally came up with the unknown that you see here. It is between a quarter and a Kennedy half dollar in size. The only thing I can make out on it is a "5".

Any ideas??

Thanks,

Funkman

thanks for the reply Jeff. I'm googling trying to find a pic of one. Do you have a pic or site that can show me what it originally looked like?

Thanks again

Just what you see. only not corroded.

They came in many sizes just like Buttons.

Some were Square, some round.

But were made of Lead.

I did a search also, I couldn't find anyone selling them, not even EBay.

I would Imagine the Square ones were used in Corners in Curtins.

The Only Mention I found in Search was that they can be Purchased at Fabric Shops.

And that they are still being used today in Wedding Gowns.

Although I would think most of the Dug ones that don't come from Curtins, date back to the days of Long Dresses (When Women got a Name for Showing too much Calf :P) & Ball Gowns.
