I found this at a 1840 house buried near a rockwall leading to house anyone know what it is? It's very heavy / has threaded bottom and a hole in the side opposite handle image.webpimage.webpimage.webp

Part of a water valve maybe?

It is the inside a fluid on and off valve imo. I'd also say it does look like something from the 19th century to me. Looks like it was a pretty well made valve of its day.

The threads on the bottom lean me towards a gas valve.
