Picked up this old painting today. I think it is turn of the century / Victorian but not sure. Check out the artist signature-- Anyone recognize it? It looks like Shilsle? On the back is a sticker that I hope will help date it but I don't recognize it.
Your feedback is welcome. Any guesses? 100_9408.webp100_9412.webpshilsle_artist.webp

Welcome to Treasure Net !!
That label once read: Chretien and Bro, Main St., Buffalo, Wholesale and retail, Tube colors, sketching paper, millboard, stable brushes, vanishes, etc.
The same label appears on paintings (at least one I've seen) from the late 1880s; 1887, to be specific.
Don........
PS: Charles F. Chretien co-owned a painting supply store in Buffalo, Chretien Brothers & Co. William C. Chretien and Louisa Chretien were also owners of the store. A Buffaloe city directory also shows their business listed in 1883.

Awesome. So I've narrowed this painting down to the 1880's. Now any cracks at the artist? and... MANY thanks.
