Hi all-
I was doing some work for one of my customers, in her 80´s. She got this from her grandfather after he died. She would like to know more about the painting and the artist. I can´t find anything so appreciate any info. There is no writing on the back, just an old frame held together by shims/wedges. Thank you for taking a look.

I'm afraid that's a copy of an 1895 work by the Belgian artist Alfred Theodore Joseph Bastien.

There are numerous copies of this work by various amateurs and lesser artists which have low values. The 1899 date may well be accurate, but I don't know the artist 'Rossi'. Most of the copies are unsigned and they sometimes have minor variations on composition. Some are titled 'Fiddler in the cellar'. The one that @Machaydon linked to is also a copy of that same work... and note that "Okänd konstnär" is Swedish for "unknown artist".

That´s great, as long as I have info to tell her. Thank you RC
