Old Park Hunt (Gold) updated

Went out today to hit the Old Park again today. I was with a new detecting buddy. He just got his first detector yesterday and I was giving him some tips. He was following me around so when I got a good tone I wanted him to hear what to listen for in a good tone. The area we were hunting was a area that several good detectorist have gone over the past few weeks including me. I got a low tone that was very iffy. I thought it might be a pull-tab or a nickel. I decided to dig it and am I glad I did. It turned out to be a 32nd Degree Mason Pendant from I believe is from about 1880's. This is known by the owners name which is engraved inside. My buddy heard me calling out saying I found gold. He just chuckled and thought I was joking at first till he looked at my face. He came over and could not believe it's condition. I am still shaking over it. Happy Hunting.

Very complex piece, old, gold, and great condition. Trifecta! Fascinating. That a family member bought it is quite the codex. That's a metal detecting adventure!

Great find camb1, ornate and historic! Hard to top this one but keep trying as you already beat the"good guys" to this beauty! Hope you find many more this season too HH......

Very Nice. Hope you were sure to tell the new hunter to not expect that on every hunt! Way to go :icon_thumleft:

Thanks poorman15. That was the first thing I told him. LOL

Wow! I'm itching to find some gold. Tired of digging up pull tabs & tin foil!
Congrats!

Thanks Digs68. Hate to say it, but that is what you have to dig to find gold. HH

Beach weather is approaching what will camb1 pull out next?

I'll stay tuned!

Congratulations on the BANNER keeper! It's especially important because you were able to locate a family member who would cherish it. :icon_thumleft:

There's no talking, if I want it, i'll get it. She doesn't care. She actually smiled about it when i told her what i was thinking

I just have that new xterra 705 in the box that i didnt need to buy so im thinking I need to sell it b4 I get the Excalibur/tigershark or whatever water machine. Maybe I can find someone who wants to trade. Never know!

At last! The (long overdue) well deserved BANNER!!!
Kudos man!!! Was "out of service" for 4 days because of the flu, just checked in, happier now!

Thanks yaxthri. Feeling a little down myself today.

Just wanted to thank everyone for the likes and comments on this piece. This find has made me do much more research of this area. It has gotten me permission to hunt several other old home-sites of the family member of the owner.

that is one of the coolest things i have seen on this website

135 replies whoop whoop! I've told this story to several md's that I know where are not on this site. It was a great time!

Congrats on your find and making the Banner!:icon_thumright:
