Hey guys! It's been a busy summer and I havent had much time to hunt, but i decided to get a quick hunt in today after work. I've been hunting this farm for quite some time and the area I hunted today is an area where I suspect civil war troops set up camp. The owner of the property told me that the 1500 acre farm has been in his family since before the civil war. He said he was told over the years that soldiers had camped somewhere on the property and he thinks that they were near the river. The field I hunt is next to part of the river and I have found several bullets and buttons as well as knapsack hooks. It's so much ground to cover that he owns I would never be able to cover it by myself. I found this pendant in the same area and was hoping maybe someone would be able to recognize what time period it may be from and also if they have seen one similar. I'm hoping to get out there and do some more searching on other parts of the property soon. Thanks for looking guys and happy hunting! 20180829_200135.webp

Congratualtions! :icon_thumleft:

Nice pendant find. Congrats

Cool pendant. What are those two dots on it? Was something attached to it at some point?

Thank you... I'm not sure what would have been attached. I'm still trying to figure that out. Maybe someone will chime in soon.

Congrats on your find.

Thank you! There is a house site not far from there and I seem to have more luck out in the fields than by the house.

Oh wow that's very cool. Congrats! :icon_thumleft:

Recheck the hole. Perhaps remove the dirt and go through it carefully. What was attached there may well have been a gold initial, urn, Masonic calipers, or other symbol that fell off. Definitely mid 1800s and a stunning find!

Thank you! I will definitely have to see if I can sift out the missing piece. I know that there is a Mason buried on the property somewhere from the early to mid 1800s. I havent found the cemetary, but my old friend that passed away told me he found it. There were quite a few homesteads on the 1500 acres.

My guess would be part of a watch fob.
