Found this a long time ago in a river in Fla and was never able to find out what in the world it was. It's made of metal of some kind and was not rusty at all. It's 1 3/8" across and 3/8" thick please take a look and let me know what you think it is.
Have you got a better close up picture of the design? The edges look like Hellenic art (Greek meander links) and the design reminds me of the Phaistos Disk (although it's not).
Can you see a spot on the edge where something broke off?
I'm guessing it is a Victorian era perfume locket.
Back then women did not put perfume on skin or clothing. It was oily. The would soak a small piece of fabric and put it inside a pendant or even special brooches or buttons.
