Last Friday I recieved the go ahead on a old school. The school opened in 1918 and was grades 1 thru 12. It closed in 1974. Owner told me he has let four or five people hunt it in last twenty years. It's on a little over five acers. I went there this morning prepared for a all dayer. Pulled out eight wheats. A nice football medallion/necklace (wish it had a date on it). I think it's made of bronze. A very small ring (my fifth for the year) made in Mexico and a little indian chief face that goes with it. I don't know what it is made out of. Of course all the other little suprises that you keep. Bunches of slaw and scrap metal. All and all it was a good enough day for me to post it. I started metal detecting In April of this year and think I'm coming along decent. I read almost all of the post in todays finds and metal detecting. I personally think this is the best website and it has wonderful members. I will say that I have yet to find one silver coin and I'm praying that this school will fix that. I have found a war nickle but I'm not counting it. Included in my pics is my first relic find that I take with me on all my hunts because of the luck it brings me. It's a Masonic token/medallion. Thanks for looking and HH.

Cool finds!

Love your Masonic token. I don't understand why I see holes drilled to the side of the design like that. For a pendant, it seems like a hole centered top would be the way to go.

Sounds like a great place to hunt Thanks for sharing the pics Jut swing that coil slow deep silver can be easy to miss!!!!!!!!!

Congratulations on your finds. Love the Masonic token! Don't worry about the silver, just go slow and it will come. I did an entire football/band practice field. Not one silver coin found, but a 1924 buffalo and 3 silver items. You never know what you are going to find! Indiana has good history. The French had forts there in the 1700's. Good luck!

Where there's wheat pennies there's silver, Nice finds, sounds like a great place, a school that old I bet they moved play ground equipment around a lot. You'll find the right spot...

Well Mr. Squirrel322

I thought the very same thing about not be centered top. Thats they way it came out of the ground and it brings me the mojo luck that I need.

Mr. A2coins and Mr Tom,

I do find myself slowing down some after going at it for 8 hours. Thanks for the tip guys. Mr. Tom I love your pic there. Damn shame we have to wait all winter befor thinking about them. We wont talk about that now tho.

Mr. yardgoat I believe your right on all facts. Thanks Man.

Mr. trapperart silver is my goal for now. It wasn't long ago when you posted your banner find. I think that is every metal detecting persons goal. I don't care how ruff she looks. Sure is pretty to me. Happy for you on hitting that goal.

Congratulations on the old relics and coins! The old ring and corner stone...medal are very nice finds. :occasion14: Keep working the area, I bet there is some silver still around.

The Masonic token, was probably from a keychain, you know those little ball-chain link thingys...I say that cuz a few oddball token pieces I've found had the hole on the side, then I found one with the chain.
The football medallion is the winner in my book....awesome piece.
