PS.: the face of the woman is to be seen in horizontal position at the side of the postcard's back.
Was it a Ambrotype there before and left this kind of trace ? - Well,I don't know.... do you?

Well, I can tell you that it's not an original ferrotype or daguerrotype with a paper back like that.

Most likely it is a calling card, with the person's information on the front. These were usually ordered in bulk, and dated later. It is possible that the card was laid on top of a tintype or other photogaph, and some chemicals transferred onto the back of the absorptive paper--or perhaps it was an error in manufacture. These are two possibilities I could think of right off.

It is most certainly an interesting effect--one that I have not seen before.

If the card is inexpensive, it would make a neat item for a display or collection.

Strange but a neat pic. Thanks for sharing. Steviewhite-Fayetteville, WV

I see ghost images often in old books . It's just somthing that happens when the items are on top each other and are undisturbed for 100+ years .

Here is another example of it happening with some old photos that were left in a book .
