Hello,
yesterday I detected these old stonewalls in the middle
of a plowing field. What was once a house,must have
been more than 100 years old . Look what I found :
* 2 Buckles
*What I think is the upper part of a bed (Zinck)
* An old bronce door handle (oval)
* a piece of lead
* a part of some square frame (iron)
* a part of an old petrol lampe (at first sight I thought
it was an old copper coin)
* 2 copper shotgun shells (very old).
MfG. Mike.

cool finds, that is a really neat place to hunt. Wish I could find someplace like that around here.

The hit is beautiful although I counted on more.

Very nice pics. How old do you think the
p;ace is? Jimbob

Please!

Now I would like your help to ID these bullet shells.

At first I thought these 2 shells were from shotguns.
But after I cleaned them I began to suspect they may
well be carabine shells,hit several times by the plow
as the years went by.
A battle was fought 3 km down this road in 1935.
The arms used then were the following:

On the revolutionary side:
* Remingtons "Rolling Block" system.
* Winchesters Mod. 1873

On the gobernment (infantery and police) side :
* Mausers Mod. 1894-98.
* 2 Maschine Guns Mod. Hotchkiss

One of the capsules found by me yesterday is marked :
AG and " 94"

Could someone find what "AG" means?
"94" could well mean (18)94 the manufacturer´s year .
If they turn out to be shells from that battlefield,well I´LL
turn this plowing field upside down :D

Hi,
sorry, I didn´t understand what p;ace is .You mean place ?
Well, in that case I estimate these ruins are at least 150 years old.

Today I contacted the local Gunsmith in our town.
He confirmed the 2 gun shells are . 44
caliber .He even showed me a sample ,that I marked
with a harrow. Use in what kind of gun ? -Unknown.
That confirms me too,this ammunition was used in
that battle .

Hi,
I´ll try to MD this field again. This ammunition found means to me
that they left after the battle trown away . One of the cartriges was not fired!

Wow that is a great place to hunt. Make sure that you hunt all around the plowed field. You may turn up coins and buttons especially if you can locate where they originally farmed that area. They always lost buttons and an occasional large copper penny!!!!

Those are great pics. Looks like a neat place to hunt with lots of potential. Thanks for sharing.

:o I'd be turning that plowing field upside down anyway! :D What a great site, Mike! :icon_pirat:

Good luck on your return~

Nana :)

Thank you pals !
Actually I detected only aprox. 5% of that field.
I was concentrated around the walls ,the front part and some
nearby Tree. I wish I could find the owner of the land to ask
him to permit the MDing. But I found nobody around ! ::)
I even don´t know if it was already seeded.... :icon_scratch:
An old friend told me these .44 cartriges could well have
been from a revolver Hmmmmmm :o
