Found this token on school grounds at RCW(Renville County West) on Sunday afternoon. Owl Tavern on one side and 5 on other side. Both sides have been handstamped with the letter "D". Any one know what this would mean? Maybe disbanded, deleted, done, etc. Local research hasn't come up with whether is was a local establishment or not. Town histories back to 1870's make mention of taverns existing (there were two in 1882), but local papers seemed to shy away from actually mentioning the business name or its owner if it was a bar or tavern. The closest reference I could find for an Owl Tavern was in Lake Geneva, Wi. which is 442 miles away. My guess is the token is closer to pre or post Prohibition time frame.
Found the 1943 Mercury dime on same school property the day before. It was in same area I found a 1903 Barber dime, 1937 Merc, 193? Buffalo nickel last summer, so there are some older coins there.
