Old tin can id?

I was wondering what this can was used for ? maybe kerosine ? what does GSW mean ? I can't smell any evidence of what may have been in it .Thanks .

Don't know whether it applies to your item or not, but "G. S. W." is a mark used by the Canadian container manufacturer General Steel Wares, 1927-present.
