I picked up this old stick on the weekend.

I got it from an elderly lady who told me it was her fathers.

Im hoping you guys may be able to tell me a little about it, age, origin etc....

Its a very solid heavy, and thick stick, very dark wood (ebony?)
I think the top is a carving of an elephant? With a worn trunk.

Sorry for the rather poor photos.

If i ever need the assistance of a walking cane, this will be the one, as it would double for a great wacking stick.

I'm still looking for the right one. I'm supposed to use one now, but I manage without.

It looks to be maybe 100 years old. I believe the classification would be folk art. I have no clue and value as these are all over the place. I do know that if you can identify the maker it increases the value exponentially

Thanks JimDon,
I have a few old sticks, not sure why but i find them appealing.

The lady told me it could be African, but that was just a guess. I will upload a better pic or two.

Cheers
