I only had a very short time to hunt near home today. I was lucky to get out at all. The only decent find was what i think is a old watch fob. I never dug one so I’m hoping it is and i couldn’t think of what else it could be. Please correct me if I’m wrong. At first i didn’t even realize it opens up like a locket. It has a mans name and address engraved inside. Maybe ill be able to track a relative down somehow. It also has a makers info stamped on the back but i couldn’t find any info yet at all on them. Thanks for looking! [emoji2][emoji106]

Sweet! Sometimes I enjoy finding stuff like that more than coins.

Seems like all the watch fobs I have found were heavier brass. What is the maker of it? Sorry I can't see too well. Definitely an interesting piece!

It says “u.v.m. co. 812 huron rd. cleveland. o patented”

Very cool find , Congrats !!!

Hi, wow that is a great find, Congrats.:icon_thumleft:

I might be a piece of a chatelaine. IMHO it looks feminine and frilly. The mans name engraved on it might nullify this though.

Nice find sir.

Any ideas on what exactly it is is totally welcome. A fob was the only thing i could think of! [emoji2][emoji106]

Could a picture have fit inside, perhaps it was her beloved husband that passed?

The piece at the top of this one is similar looking.

I found one that opens up!

I believe the chains attached to that star shaped piece. I may be crazy, but I believe it's a chatelaine piece.

That would be awesome if it was. Thanks for checking it out! [emoji2][emoji106]

I wish i was a little more careful that dig. I nicked the bottom of it with my shovel and thats why its broke with that little piece off! [emoji30]

Very interesting old relic! :occasion14:

I looked up the local address engraved inside and it doesnt appear to exist anymore. After the halifax explosion that area was drastically changed. It could pre date 1917! :)

Way to go kiddo !! Nice score. Congrats !!

Chatelaine was a Victorian thing, so it would have predated 1917. If that "star" piece with all the little holes, was attached, then I am almost sure that it is indeed a chatelaine. The chains would have been attached tot he star.

This has been exciting for me, I like solving mysteries

I'm just throwing this out there... Could it be an antique luggage tag?
