I heard that it is going to be 0 degrees here tommarow. I had to go outside and detect! I went out to my yard which i have hunted so many times. I used my ACE 250. A little bit of snow covered the ground of the 100 year old yard. Today has been a lucky day. I headed out and got a fairly strong signalat 6 inches. My first hit of 2007! I dug down and ran the MD over the empty hole... no signal. I tested the mound of dirt and got a strong penny hit! I sifted my finger through the top and out came a corroded penny! From 6 inches down. I checked the back, it locked old, i rubbed it and saw that it was a wheat cent! I ran inside and washed it off. 1922 (no mint mark?). This date sounded special for some reason....hmmmm.... oh yeah, its a key date!!! I checked my red book... $9 in G if its just 1922. $450 in G if its 1922 no mintmark. And $35 is G if its 1922 weak D. YIPEE!!! To bad its corroded. But still, one of my best finds!
THANKS FOR LOOKING AND HH!
UPDATE: After trying out the hydrogen peroxide, it worked great by the way (THANKS GC!), i checked the date again, and i can see the faint curves of an 8 in 1928. Oh well. Still a cool find.
