Took advantage of the beautiful day yesterday with stratos and decided to go dirt fishing. Found three wheaties, 1918, 1919 and 1951. My oldest finds since I started doing this earlier this year. Silver still eludes me but oh so close. I thought the dime was the way it shined. My greatest find though was the 5 cent trade goods token. It was about 8 inches deep and had a little choppy sound to it. Almost didn't dig it up. After more research, I was able to get a little more info on it. It comes from a men's only saloon from around the 1912 time frame. Still am very excited to have found this. ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1442266639.761385.webp

Nice finds. I like that token. Silver can't be far behind!

Awesome finds! Congrats on the oldest! The silver will come I thought it would avoid me forever it's just getting that first one!

Well we are in the right area, your all over the date range. I am sure one will come screaming in to your headphones soon.

Just keep at it. Don't get discouraged. You will be rewarded soon ,those older coins prove it .Try try again.

Thank you for the advice [emoji4]

Getting right up the the century mark. Keep going and you'll someday think back and smile. Next up silver

congrats on your oldest!, always a great feeling to get that oldest coin!!

Looks like you in a good spot. Don't always go by the VDI. If it sounds good dig it. Sometimes iron will mask your reading. :occasion14:

Just a matter of time. Good luck!

Don't over-think it, just swing the coil & silver will come. Congrats on getting out with a friend and enjoying the hobby. I maintain low expectations. I consider it a skunk if I don't at least dig a wheat. No skunk for you, and the token is neat.

I have 8 lbs of clad coins too. I started this January and found everything from the gold ring in my pic, necklace as well as silver rings. No silver coins. A large selection of 1965 dimes, qurters, halves... I too am waiting.

It will come to ya. Almost like a second language once your "tuned" in! Then later on down the road you'll punish yourself more cause you will have your machine figured out; buy a new one and start all over! :laughing7: But, its worth it!

Congratz on your oldest coin and the token!!!

coiltosoil,
You've been at this for less than a year and have already found and ID-ed at least one object that is over 100 years old; CONGRATS !!
Don........

Fun finds. Finding lots of wheaties, and in the teens to boot. Excellent!

I like that token

Ur getting there...remember where there's wheats there is silver...usually

I love those tokens, super find! You're getting close to the 1800's. My first 1800 coin was found in North Hollywood park, Ca. Was trying out a New CZ 3-D in enhanced mode. Got a solid hit which read zinc penny at about 2 inches but in enhanced mode it was a high tone and I made up my mind I was digging any high tone hits. Back then I passed up all shallow zinc penny hits. Was shocked when I pulled out an 1899 one cent Canadian coin and it was shallow. Guess others were passing up shallow zinc penny hits too:laughing7: I hope you break the 1800's soon! Nice digs:thumbsup:
