Several weeks ago stevemc and I checked out an old ferry boat landing on a real low, negative tide. It had been in use in the 1890's. Found a lot of brass nuts, bolts, screws valves and boat related hardware. Also a hand forged light yellow brass bell(?) and a very toasted 1908 Barber Quarter and a Mercury dime that I can't see a date on.

Thanks for looking
Jonnie

Some nice old stuff you got there. Who knows what you might find at that beach..... Hit it again. HH, RAlph

Oldies are goodies. May have some other stuff burried there.

Can you return there, you get good target. I wish you luck. :icon_pirat:

cool finds, great spot!

Yes, that was an old site. Jonnie is a pro at finding this old stuff. Here is a pic of the stuff I found, (I was using a 15" coil and it was real trashy-hard to get less than 2 things at once in that coil there.) Lots of iron. I only dug non-ferrous. I should have dug the iron out to get at the non-ferrous stuff. We found lots of big iron stuff, and I found a 40+ year old Busch beer can that was used as a 22 caliber target. The things I found were these square lead things, that had iron rust on the center hole. Maybe a roofing nail with a lead washer? Some other worn copper pieces and a piece of brass pipe thread. This is after it was tumbled. There is the round thing that is like a bead, and it appears to be lead with a ceramic coating. There is also another metal thing that is not lead and not iron. Maybe silver. There was a lot of big iron things that we will have to move out of the way, and I am sure there will be other artifacts there. I will be using my 8" coil then! There was some other stuff I found, but nothing good. or old. Fishing weights, airplane parts, pull tabs, etc. Jonnie found some cool, old stuff!
