I just received my Omega 8000. Since there's a foot of snow outside, I've been testing it inside and comparing it with my Garrett GTA 1000 that I've used for 18+ years. The 8000 comes with an arm strap and for the life of me I don't know when I'd use it. Seems that every time you want to dig something you'd need to take it off. Since the GTA 1000 didn't have one, I've never had to consider it. Can others let me know when they use theirs and what advantages there are using it?

Thanks,
Dan

arm straps in general help balance out the weight a bit * -- you can make em a bit loose so that you can slip the arm straight out the back without undoing the velcro :icon_thumright:

Dont know why thy even make it for new Tek or Fisher machines

I find that when shallow water hunting the strap comes in handy. With coil in the water it puts a little more movement in the upper handle and the strap helps that. Also less chance of dropping unit in the water.
