Un-freaking-bievable. The nice teller let me take out what I wanted in the trash bin in the coin machine as she was working on it. As I was grabbing up IKES, I pushed something aside and saw a glint of gold. I palmed it out and it turns out to be a 14KT gold band. Very worn. I called the bank after I got home and told them I found it. I said if someone claims it have them call me. If they can ID it it's theirs. Even if I have to give it back it's a great find. If I get to keep it even better. There were 5 IKES and some change for a total of $6.09. Not a bad day....LOL.... kind of a bummer though...........no silver.....just gold.......LOL

Your on a roll buddy. I keep lookin for that $10 Eagle in a half roll, no luck yet LOL. HH Mark

just curious but whay would the teller let you have free coins?

That looks like it was hand made by someone who was an amatuer. I wonder how old it is? Could it have been made from a gold coin?

I bet it was a wedding band that had been worn for many years, then the widow of this person put it in the penny jar and forgot about it and later the jar was just poured into the coin counter. The ring is probably not even missed.

(jusy my 2¢ opinion)

Dang what a surprise...aa

It doesn't look like it was made from a coin. It has 3 seperate pieces, 2 outer bands and an inner band. Each has it's own 14K mark. It is very worn. It weighs 3.6 grams.

It is the plastic bucket where all the trash gets kicked out. The last teller I asked to look said no, the guy who maintains the machine emptys that. This teller said go ahead and take what ever you want, it's all just junk in there......LOL. It doesn't get counted, it's not the banks money. She didn't ask what I found. I didn't tell. Except the ring. No calls yet.

To them it is junk. They have no account to deposit it to, it is often damaged and they can't return it to the customer since they don't know who put it in the machine in the first place.

My bank routinely gives me the rejects from the coin counter if they can't id the customer. I get lots of foreign coins that way and occasionally some Ikes, silver and misc.

That is unreal AW......sweet!!! Not only you get gold swinging the stick but now in coin machines......ha! What's next for you?

Congrats!!

I guess the only next thing would be to find a gold coin in a roll.........don't laugh newbies.......it's been done before.............

Nice!

yeah that just a very worn band, I see them all the time. Looks like there was a nice patterned center part and two rails, of course after 30 years or more of ware the pattern part is worn smooth. Probably was 5 grams new.
Awesome find.

Thanks for the info JD. I was wondering how long it would take to wear like that.
